Grecner9;s grea t role m odel w as Al an Resna is, a young Fren ch filmmaker who sought to introduce Slov akia to the id ea of film as a labyrinth in which meaning s are created no t by stories, but by complex configurat ions of di alogue, sho ts, and various layers of time, thus differe ntiating film from both lit erature and t heater. In Drag on Return s―the story of a solit ary hero who is needed by villagers l iving far in the m ountains, but who is re jected by t hem at the same time because of his det achment―Grecner brough t the tradition of lyricized prose to life throug h a whole series o f formal aesthetic techniques.
