Effects ar e minimal and the cast is utte rly unknown.  I sho uld poi nt out that these a re all good th ings, and work very mu ch in the film9;s favour. There is no CGI to rely o  n, no name actors  to carry it. Rather,  the filmmakers do the unthinka ble: they create a genuine atmosphere of uni magi nable dre ad and unspe  akable horror, using shadow, sugges tion and rare spla shes of that Nameless colour in a f ew select frames. In short, they did a damn good job . Die F arbe is subtle in its mounting  horror, nurt uring a d ark dread deep  in you  r bowels with  every shot. All of the best  and mos t stomach-turni ngly distre ssing fil ms I’ve ever  seen  have come o ut of Germany: M, Th e Cabine t Of Dr. C alig ari, The  White Ri bbon, and no  w this one.  Leave it to t  he Germans. We know how to gross you  out on the deepest psychological levels .  　　Lovecraft worshipper s and  devotees  of German E xpressionism alike, take  heed: seek out and v iew th is film at you r earliest p  ossible convenience. It’s a dark, noisome little gem th at will squirm into your subconscious and  lay its eggs in your sanity.
