《全能偵探》是由知名导演Damon Thomas 执导的一部美劇，史蒂芬·曼甘 達倫·博伊德 海倫·巴克森代爾 等倾情出演，该片讲述了：　　Green Wing and Free Agents s tar Stephen  Mangan is to play the lead role in BBC4's adapt  ation of the late Douglas Adams Dirk Gently 's Holi stic Detective Agency.　　Mangan will be  joined by Darren Boyd as his sid ekick Richard MacDuf f and Cold Feet and Friends actor   Helen Baxe  ndale, as MacDuff's gir lfriend Susa n.　 　Adapted by the  Bafta-winning writer Howard Overman –  who  is also behi nd Misfits, Vexed and M erlin – Dirk Gently&# 39;s Holis  tic Detec tive Agency  follow s the explo its of Adams's chaotic chara cter as he uses h is u  nusual meth ods to solv e crimes.　　Mangan said: " I' ;ve been a  fan of Dou glas Adams ever since the Hitchh iker's radi o series which I us ed to recor  d as a chil d and list en to o ver and over again in my be droom. It's  such a thrill to now be playing one of his brilliant  charac ters.　　&qu ot;D irk is  a chaotic , anarchic f orce of nat ure with a totally u  nique take  on the wor ld. He is descri bed as ' ;lazy, untidy, dis missive and  unreliab le' ;. I've absolutely no i dea why they  thought  I'd be right for the role."　　The Dirk Gently book s hav  e formed    the basis of a play and a  BBC Radio  4 series but have never befo re been filmed for T V.　　Adams's  agent, Ed Victor, said : "For all the years I rep resented the lat  e, gre at Douglas Adams, the m  ost s  ubstantial frustration for both of us w as that  we c ouldn't get film s made eit her of Hitchhiker or Dirk.　　";Douglas once said, memorabl y, that  'getting a film made in Hollywood was like trying to  cook a steak by having a bunch  of people co me into the room a  nd breathe on it' ;. Well, w e di   d eventua lly get a film m ade in Holly wood of Hitchhiker and, tragically, Dougla s didn't live to  see it.
