Because the pier number is  partially c  overed, he  ends up on the wrong sh ip, the Navigator, which Betsy's r ich father (Frederick Vroom) has just sold to a small countr y at war.　　A gents for the other sm all nati on i n the conflict  decide to set the ship adrift   that sam e night. When Betsy& #39;s fathe r che cks up on   the ship,  he is captured and tied up by th e sabote urs. Betsy h ears his cry for help and  boards the ship to look for him, j ust before it is  cut loose.　　The Navigator drift s out into t he Pacific Oce an. The two  unwittin g passengers  eve ntually fin d each o ther. At first, they have great difficulty lo oking after  themselves, but ad apt after a fe w weeks. At one p oint, they sight a  navy ship and hoist a bri  ghtly-color ed fla g, not realizing  it signals that the ship is under  qua rantine. As a result, the other ves sel turns away.　　Finally, the  ship grounds itself near an inhabited   tropical islan d and springs a leak. While Rollo do  ns a deep sea  div ing suit and sub merges to patch the  hole, the  black nat ives canoe out an d take Betsy captive. W  hen Rollo   emerge s from t he ocea n, the natives are scared off, enabling him to rescue Bets y and  take her ba ck to the ship. The nat ives return and try t o board the sh  ip. After a f ierce  struggle, Rollo an d Betsy try to escape in   a smal l dinghy. It starts to  sink, and the natives swiftly overt ake them in their c anoes.
