Those who have  said t hat De Niro can't act and ju st is hims elf in ev ery movie should s ee this movie, if only out o  f some minor curiosity. A couple of times in the film it's actually not funn y, as when ther e 9;s a disturbance in a black-power  meeting (filmed in a gr   aine r, rougher style than the rest  of the film). 　　In the end it9;s capp  ed off with a rambling monologue in an interv iew that top s De Niro's in King of Comedy. It&# 39;s pret ty ob vious where De Palma& #39;s career would go after th  is, into slightly more mainstream Hollywo od territor y, but all of his tr ademarks are here ; the dark, almost nail-biting comedy,  the perf  ectly ti med style of voyeuri sm, and in teres ting usage of locals. Think if De P alma and De  Niro did a  Monty Pyt hon fil m, only even mor e low-budget and i  n its New York way just as  off-the- hinges, and you got H  i, Mo m!
