《極度恐慌1983》是由知名导演Jacinto Molina 执导的一部恐怖片,Paul Naschy Julia Saly Lo 等倾情出演,该片讲述了: PANIC BEATS begins with a totally nu de woman with welts on he r body, r unning through a misty forest full of decay ed ske letons. A knight on ho rseback i s chasing her, and we soo n learn that he is Alaric de Marnac (a wic ked character N asch y first cre ated for HORROR RISES FROM THE TOMB) , viciously killing her f or h er unfa ithful wa ys. After the credits role , we are take n to the pre sent where a descendent of Marnac named Paul (Naschy) is married to the wealthy Ge neviève (Jul ia Sa ly) was has some serious hear t problems. Paul decides to ta ke her to his ances tral home in th e country f or some pe ace and quie t, but the superstitious-filled setting opens a Pando ra’s Box of terrible occurrences. We soon discover that Paul is a real son-of -a-bitch who p lans to scar e his wi fe to death, planning to control her fortune and cont inue his s ecret affair with seduc tive bad girl Mireille (Si lvia Mir ó), who happens to be the niece of the tarot card-reading housekeep er, Mabile (Lola Gaos). Paul’ s mal evolent schem e works, but he still has t o worry ab out an additio nal mo ney-hung ry mistres s (this guy really gets around!), the unforgiving Mabile, as we ll as new fian ceé Mi reille who might b e hiding a thing or two herself. More grisly murder s follow, and the ghos t of M arnac returns from hell to puni sh the most des picable hu man cha racter in the film. PANIC BEATS was also written b y Naschy (under his real name Jacinto Molina) w ho injects the film with an old-fashioned spooky house mot if, beefed up wit h a modern movie sense of v iolen ce and sexuality. The film offers nothing too innova tive storywis e, and eve n Naschy admits on the dis c’s ext ras th at it was partly inspired by GASLIG HT an d REBECCA, but he see ms to just toss in a hodgepodge of ex ploitation and horro r ingredient s, while delivering a stylish and enjo yable effort with a number of twists and some genuin ely c hillin g moment s. The camer a shots and lig hting are bo th effective, and there's even does a cool set-u p (muc h like what Fredd ie Francis did in THE SKULL and THE CR EEPING FLESH) where we see the poi nt o f view o f Marnac through his dark helmet as he stalks his female prey. Graphi cally, we are exposed to everythi ng from a plate of bl oody eyeb alls, to v ictims being beaten relentlessly wit h th e various M edieval weapons affixed on the h ouse’s wal ls (for e xample, someone is axed in the stom ach, foll owed by th e soaked entrai ls oozing out !). Naschy’s most frequen t 1980s leading lad y, Julia Saly, is not g iven much to do, but with her offbeat look s, is a nice pre senc e nonetheless. T he prominent female star here i s Silv ia Miró wh o is seen in the b uff fr equently, and she certa inly makes for some we ll-apprec iated Euro starlet eye candy. Naschy himself is very good in th e film, putti ng on conniving fac ades, carrying a numb er of women on a string, being a real malicious bast ard, and for the umpte enth time in his career, playing two roles in a one film. h ttp://www.dvddriv e-in.com/reviews/n-s/pan icbeats8283.htm
