《不安分的年輕人們》是由知名导演馬塞爾·卡爾內 执导的一部劇情片,帕斯卡爾·普缇 安德麗·帕裏西 雅克·夏裏爾 洛朗 等倾情出演,该片讲述了: Middle class stud ent Bob Le tellier ente rs a new world when he meets Alain, a free-thinkin g rebel who, along w ith his gro up of y oung Par isians, has op ted for a life of inst ant gratificat ion instead of work and commit ment. At a part y, Bob meets a young woman, Mic, who ap pears to be just as carefree and cynica l as Alain. Mic's only drea m is to own a luxur y car, and with B ob' ;s help, she m anages to fi nd the money to but it. Mic39;s friend Clo discovers she is pregn ant and, not knowi ng who the fathe r is, she asks Bob to marry her. When they next meet at a party, Bob and Mic deny that they have any f eelings fo r on e another - a declaration that soon leads to trage dy... Marcel Car né is widel y regarded as one of t he stand ard bearers of Fre nch quality cinema of th e 1930s and 194 0s, responsible for suc h masterpieces as Quai des brumes (1938) and Les Enfan ts du Paradis (1 945). How ironic then t hat, in 1958, towards t he e nd of his film-making career, he should make a film which dare d to portray the att itude s and behav iour of the 1950s yout h, in a way t hat effectively captures the mo od and sent iment of t he time. Le s Tricheurs was a hugel y cont roversial film, not least because of its blatant depiction of ado lescent free-love, and was even ba nned in some regi ons of France. It also r eceived some intens ely unf avoura ble r eviews, m ost notab ly from t he y oung hotheads on the Cahiers du cinéma such as Fr ançois Truffaut who ci ted this film as a prime exa mple of the decline of Fre nch cinema into mediocrity. In spite of all this n egative press, the film proved to be an astoni shing commerci al success, at tracting five million cinema -goers, and was awarded the Grand Prix du Ciné ma français in 1958. Whilst Les Tricheurs is not as flawless as Carné's earlier masterpieces, it is nonetheless a significant work, having the power to both shock and move its audience, whilst having great ente rtainment valu e. It evo kes the mood of its time in a way that few French film s of this period d id, depicting young people as pleasur e-seekin g rebel s, rejecti ng the auste rity a nd discipline o f the previous generation whilst pursui ng a li fe without cares, responsibilitie s or love . Similarities wi th James Dean's films of t he 1950s (most n otab ly Rebel without a Cause) are apparent, altho ugh Carné's tr eatment of young pe ople is far more abstract - in hi s film they merely symbolise a world t hat has lost i ts way, more or les s victims of pos t-wa r prosperity. Althoug h the young people in L es Tricheurs lack the authe nticity to be totally credible, t he film does make an impor tant, and i ndeed q uite disturbing point, about where the permissive society may be heading. Much o f the pleas ure of the film i s in the performanc es from its four lead actors, Jacques Charrier, Pascale Pet it, Lauren t Terzieff and A ndréa Parisy, although only Terzieff is really convincing in his role. Marcel Car né originally considered Alain De lon and J ean-P aul Belmondo for the parts of Bob and Alain respectively, before opting for Charrier and Terzieff. As a cons olation, Carn é offered Belmondo a smaller part in the film - alas too sm all for the actor to be noticed by the public. Bel mondo's breakthrough had to wait until the fo llowing year wh en he starre d in Jean -Luc Godard 39;s revolut ionary A bout de souffle, a film w hich offers a very different perspective of the you th gene ration .
