《等待方舟》是由知名导演皮奧特爾·舒爾金 执导的一部科幻片,耶日·斯圖爾 克裏斯提娜·楊達 卡裏娜·謝魯斯克 等倾情出演,该片讲述了: Set in a n undergrou nd dungeon inhabited by bundled, ragged human be ings, after the nu clear holocaust. The story follows the wanderings of a hero t hrough the situa tions of sur vival. People wa it fo r the Ark to arrive and rescue them while their habita t falls apart. Delving deep into the dusty and long aband onded va ults of b-cinema in sear ch of lost gems always leaves me wi th a bittersweet ta ste. On one hand t he disc overy of unexpected gems where no one woul d think them possibl e is a rewarding experience. On the other hand though it makes one wond er how many of thes e remarkable low-bud get oddit ies, persona l love affairs of directo rs never quite fa mous and now all but forgotten, have almost fore ver sl ipped from memory? n a ny case what we have here is a little post-apocalypti c gem from P oland that is r eally better than it has any right to. T he dystopi an near fu ture o f O-BI, O-BA finds a g roup of surv ivors of the nuclear war that ravag ed the Earth inhabiting a n underworld concrete bu nker and b iding their time as t hey wait for the mysterio us Ark , an air ship of som e kin d that will come and save them. The Ark proves to be an ela borate hoax, ca refully design ed to g ive hope to the ma lnourished and desperate deni zens of the bunker, while in the meantime the dome that separa tes their m iserable existence from the nuclear winter outside is slowly caving in. What first striked me about the mov ie is the design of the bun ker and the depiction of th e su rvivors. The survivors are gaunt, filthy and terrible-lo oking penitents, dressed i n rags and aimlessly wander ing the neon-lit hall s of the bu nker like automat ons. The b unker is a rundown, seedy plac e, with br ight ne on lights peeri ng from all sides like the e yes of malignant beas ts. On one hand it is a slightly 8 0's depiction of th e dyst opian future but the movi e never stoops down to MAD MA X cheese. Instead it combines biting political satire with the blea k outlo ok of a wo rld with no future, blac k comedy with barbs on apathy, religio n and p ower. The surviv ors, f or example, are fed so me kind of flour dropping from a tube tha t hovers in the air - later on we discover the food superviso r uses books and the Bible itself as filler for this meagre meal. There are many such short symbolic touches, perhaps not lif e-changing or f aith-restor ing, yet p layfu l, clever and inspir ed. One thing is for sure; O-BI, O-BA is no t your run-of-the-mill sci-fi schlo ck. It overcomes i ts mo dest budget with crea tivity and has genuine a rtistic asp irations both f rom a writi ng and directin g pe rspective. My opinion is that it s hould have been filmed in black and white instead of colo ur though. The director use s atmosph eric light and shadow to great effect and it would h ave register ed ev en better in stark black and white. The blue-green neon on t he ot her hand out stays its welcome after a while . Jus t a mi nor gripe in an otherw ise so lid b-movie with its heart set in all the right places. Imagin e a less bleak THE ROAD (Co rmac McCa rthy) being injected with the s atire and humour of DR.ST RANGELOV E and you're ge tting there. See it if you can fin d it.
