《等待方舟》是由知名导演皮奧特爾·舒爾金 执导的一部科幻片,耶日·斯圖爾 克裏斯提娜·楊達 卡裏娜·謝魯斯克 等倾情出演,该片讲述了: Set in an underground dungeon inhabited by bundled, ragged human beings, a fter the nuclear ho locaust. Th e story follows the wande rings of a hero throug h the situat ions of s urviva l. People wait for the Ar k to a rrive and rescue them while their habitat falls apa rt. Delving d eep into t he dusty and long aba ndonded vau lts of b-ci nema in search of lost gems always leaves me with a bitter sweet taste. On one hand the dis covery of une xpected gems w here no one would think them possible is a reward ing experience. On the other hand thou gh it makes one wonder how man y of t hese remark able low-budget oddities, personal love affairs of directors ne ver qu ite famous a nd now all but forg otten, have almos t forever s lipped from memory? n any case what we have her e is a little post-apocalypti c gem from Poland that is really better than it has any righ t to. The dystopian nea r future of O-BI, O-BA finds a grou p of survivors of th e nuclear war that ra vaged the Earth inh abiting an und erworld concrete bu nker and bi ding their time a s they wait for the mysterious Ark, an air ship of som e kind that will come and save the m. The Ark proves to be an elaborate hoax , carefully designed to give hope to the malnourished and desp erate denizens of the bunke r, while in the meantime the dome that sep arates their miserable exist ence from t he nuclear winter outsi de is slowly cavin g in. What first s triked me about t he movie is th e design of the bunker an d the depic tion of the survivo rs. The survivors are gaunt, fi lthy and terrible-looking penitents, dressed in rags and aimlessly wandering t he neon-lit hall s of the bunker like au tomatons. The bunke r is a rundown, seed y place , with br ight neon li ghts peering from all s ides like the eyes of malignant beasts. On one hand it is a slightly 80' s depic tion of the dystopian future but the movie never stoops down to MAD MAX cheese. Inste ad i t comb ines biting political satire w ith the bleak outlo ok of a wo rld with no future, black comedy with barbs on apathy, religion and power . The survivors, for example, are fed some kind of flour drop ping from a tube that hovers in the air - la ter on we discover the f ood supervisor uses books a nd the Bi ble itself as filler for this meagre meal. Th ere are many such short symbolic touches, perhaps not life- changing or faith-restorin g, yet playful, clever and inspired. One thing is f or sure; O-B I, O-BA is not your run-o f-the-mill sci-fi schlock. It over comes its modest budget wit h cre ativity an d has genuine artistic aspirations b oth from a wr iting and directing p erspective. My opini on is that it should have been filmed in black and white ins tead of colour though. The director u ses atmosp heric light an d shadow to great effect and it wou ld have registered even bet ter in s tark black and white. The blue-green neon on the other hand o utstays its welcome after a while. Just a minor gripe in an otherwis e solid b -movie wi th its heart set in all the right places. Imagin e a l ess ble ak THE ROAD (Corm ac McCarthy) being in ject ed with the s atire and humour of DR.STR ANGELOVE a nd you9;re getting th ere. See i t if you can find i t.
