Te chnically the film is superb, containing great cin ematography in the beginning when we learn about the main character's trauma towards tr ains. Fro m this point on, Lenz i shows us hi s ability to benefit the widescreen and, for example, the bicycle ride near t he fore st is genui nely beau tiful! This scene a lso shows Lenzi& #39;s ability to build suspense, very slowly but m eaningfully. After all , ther e aren't so many murd ers in the whole fil m, onl y the susp ense circu lating around the murderer9;s identity. One suspect is a devi l wors hipper w hich brings new aspects to the myste ry. Sin ce the final scene takes place in a church, one can wonder if Lenzi wanted to comme nt on something, maybe the hypocritical morale of c hurc h and superstit ion. The main character (Carrol Baker) is mu te whic h demands a lot from her face and eyes. Th e actress w orks very well, givi ng us a believable performance circulating around the emotions of fear and mental pain. Th e other act ors are goo d, too. T he f inally, however, may not give to o positive a sigh t about fema le sex s ince they all are expressed r ather neg atively in the film, one way or anoth er.
