Why for  so many years, seemingly since  it's releas e in 1933, this film vanished from the face of  the earth . After seeing it, courtesy of the efforts of Mr. Wade Williams  Co., I'm still puzz led, but I have   a theory. In 1933, the code was e  nacted that pretty muc h took c are of sex and vio lence in Hollywood. While n ot an e xplicit film by any me ans, Deluge do es deal f airly fr ankly wit h sexu ality,  lust and  rape.  I wonder if RKO discovered they had a  film that th ey could not  re-relea se, much like the fabled lost Warner Bros.  comedy Convention Ci ty. It's a shame for, while it is a  date d film, I find it quite uniq  ue and surprising for it's era and a  fairly suc cessful atte mpt to  create somet hing different in an  era when films we re already becoming cookie cutter by -product s of the studio machine (not th at many of t  hose cook  ies aren't tasty, mind you). A nd even though t he only ava ilable copy at this writ ing is dubbed into Ita lian, I don't find that a hinderance.
