Why for so many years, seemingly since it 's rele  ase in 1933, this film vanished from the  face of the ea rth. After seeing it, courtesy of  the efforts of Mr. Wa de Williams  Co., I'm still pu zzled, but I have a theo ry. In 1933, the c ode was enacted  that pretty much took care of sex and  violence in Holly wood. W hile not an explicit film by any means, Delu  ge does deal fairly frankly with sexuality, lust and rape . I won der if RKO discovered  they had a film that  they could not re- release,  much like the fabled lost Warner Bros. comedy Convention C ity. It's a sh  ame f or, wh ile it is a dated film, I find it quite uni  que and surprising for  it' s era  and a fairly su ccessful a ttempt to cr eate something d ifferent in a n era when   films were a lready becoming cook ie cut ter by-products of the studio mac hine (not t hat many of those coo kies aren't tast  y, mind you). And  even th ough the only available copy at this writing is  dubbed in to Italian, I do n't find that a h inderance  .
