Why for  so many y ears, seemingly since it's release in 1933, this f ilm vanished from the face o f the earth. After  seeing it, courtesy o f the efforts of Mr. Wade Willi ams Co.,  I'm still pu zzled, but I  have a theory. In 1933 , the code was enacted that prett y much took care of sex and violence in Hollywood. While not an  explicit film by a  ny means, Deluge does deal fa irly fr  ankly wi th sexuality, lust and ra pe. I wonder if RKO disco vered the y ha d a film that they cou ld not re-release, much like  the fab led lost Wa rner Bro s. comed y Convention  City. It'  s a shame  for, w hile it is a dated film,  I find  it quite unique a nd surprising fo r it's era and a fairly successful attempt to creat e something different in an   era w hen fi lms were already  beco ming coo kie cu tter by-products of the studio machine  (not that many of t hose cookies aren't tasty, mind y ou). And even though the only  avail able co  py at this writing is dubbed into It alian, I don't find  that a hinderan ce.
